FM27 release date and unlock times

Football Manager 27 releases on 10 November 2026. The date is global: Sports Interactive and SEGA switch the game on everywhere at the same moment, which means the calendar date on your store page depends on where you live. For New Zealand, Japan and parts of Australia, that moment falls on 11 November.

The more useful date for most players is earlier. The Launch Preview opens on 29 October at 18:00 GMT and runs until 3 November at 18:00 GMT, free, with no key and no sign-up. That is five days of the retail build before release, and saves carry into the full game.

There is no closed beta and no key lottery this year. The Launch Preview replaced both the old beta and the Advanced Access period, and it is a near-final build rather than a demo slice.

What time does FM27 unlock

SEGA has not published a single unlock hour, and it does not need to: the store handles it. The practical answer is that the game unlocks at one moment worldwide, and that moment lands in the UK afternoon or evening. Two things follow from that.

First, do not trust a countdown on a third-party site. Trust the timer on your own store page, which is localised.

Second, the date line matters more than the hour. If you are in the UK, Ireland, mainland Europe, Africa or the Americas, your copy unlocks on 10 November. If you are in New Zealand, eastern Australia, Japan or Korea, expect 11 November. The official FAQ says the same thing in one sentence: a simultaneous global launch means some time zones see 11 November.

Pre-purchase does not mean early access

Buying before release gives you the 10% discount and, from 3 November, access to the paid Launch Preview. It does not unlock the full game early. The only early play is the preview build.

Preload and download size

Pre-purchasing usually enables a preload in the final days before launch; the store page shows the button when it is live. The install is listed at 20GB, and that figure covers both the minimum and recommended spec. A 20GB download on a slow connection is the real reason to preload, not the unlock hour.

If you are installing on a laptop, check the system requirements before you start the download. The game needs a DirectX 11 GPU with at least 1GB of VRAM, and integrated chips older than Intel's HD 530 are below the minimum.

What carries over from the preview

Saves created during the free Launch Preview carry into the retail game. That is unusual enough to be worth repeating: you can start a long-term save on 29 October and keep it.

Two conditions apply.

  • The save must be on the same platform and the same store account.
  • Any save you want to import from FM24 or FM26 has to exist locally or in cloud storage. The game can read it, but it cannot read a save that only exists on another machine.

The preview build is close to retail, so a save started in it will not hit a wall of missing features. Expect balance changes in the first patch rather than structural ones.

What to do in the first 48 hours

The temptation is to start a save with your favourite club and burn the first transfer window. A better sequence:

  1. Run the tactical effectiveness guide against your squad before you buy anyone. The gauge tells you which instructions your current players cannot execute.
  2. Check the free agent list. Contract expiry is the only market where you can improve a squad without spending a fee.
  3. Decide whether your first save is a project or a title race. A project club needs the lower league guide; a title race needs the best tactics page and a squad that can press.

Platform notes

FM27 ships on Windows and Mac. The console version follows a different release pattern: there is no pre-purchase, and the store page opens for wishlisting on 29 October. If you are waiting for a console release date, the PC date is not it.

Mac support is native, including Apple Silicon. The requirements list the same 20GB of storage, and the recommended memory is 12GB across both platforms.

If the store says the wrong date

Store pages localise the unlock time, not always the date. A page showing 11 November to a UK customer is usually a timezone bug, not a delay. Check the countdown rather than the date string, and check the publisher's channels if the countdown moves by more than an hour.

The launch is simultaneous, so there is no region-hopping trick. Buying from a cheaper region to play earlier has not worked for years, and it risks the licence.

After release

The first patch usually lands within two weeks and rebalances match engine behaviour rather than adding features. Treat any tactic page, including ours, as a starting point until that patch is out. The tactics guide is written to survive balance changes because it explains the model rather than listing a magic instruction set.
